New Year Weight Loss

How to maximize weight loss and crush your New Year’s Resolution!

In the United States, 45% of respondents stated that they wanted to lose weight as their New Year’s Resolution. Only saving money (53%) was higher.  Of these resolutions, only 9.2% actually hit their resolution.

As a fitness professional, I help nearly 1,000 people succeed in weight loss and health related goals. This is what I’ve learned over the years to help my clients hit their weight loss goals.

The National Academy of Sports Medicine says that everyone should have S.M.A.R.T Goals. S.M.A.R.T stands for Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic and Timely. Although I think this is a great tool, when working with clients, I tend to change the approach slightly.

Dustin’s Goal Origination and Success Plan

Think about what you want to be the end result in the journey. If you want to lose weight, how much weight? A goal has to be quantitative, meaning measurable.

You must set a time table for this goal. Do you want to achieve it by the end of the year?

The goal has to be challenging, yet obtainable.

Break the goal down into long, medium, and short term goals. This will help you stay on track. I want to lose 100 pounds in 2019, I want to lose 50 pounds by June 1st, I want to lose 25 pounds by March 31st.

Change the goal as you go through the weight loss journey. If you hit your weight loss goal in 2 months vs 6 months, set additional goals such as compete in an Spartan Race.

Finally, How are you going to hit this goal? If you are looking for weight loss, you need to choose a diet, a meal plan, and workout plan to help achieve the goals.

How to Pick a Diet:

I will be the first to tell you that 99% of diets work. The key is to find a diet that is right for you. If you have pre-diabetes or PCOS, a low carb or KETO diet may be right for you (Talk to a Doctor before starting any diet or exercise plan). Have blood pressure issues? A lower sodium diet that is also lower (but not low) carb may be right for you. Want to gain more muscle? You may want to go a higher protein diet with moderate carbs.

How to Pick a Workout:

One of the greatest lies ever is that you have to have a gym membership to workout. It is also a lie that if you workout at home, you need a home gym. I have countless clients who do great workouts from their living room without any exercise equipment.

Of course joining a gym helps diversify your workouts, helps with social interaction, and gives you the opportunity to try new workouts.

Pick the workout that will work for you. One that you can fit into your schedule and can stick to. Check out my free workouts!

Success Stories:

My biggest loser was Kimberly Mooney who lost 151 pounds in 12 months. She set short goals for herself, obliterated them, and reset to more challenging goals.

Tom Walls lost 100 pounds in 12 months. He set short term and long term weight loss and strength goals. This helped him stay motivated.

Another diet hack that each of these clients used were taking advantage of specific supplements to aid them in their weight loss. One of which, Level-1 Meal Replacement Shake and Bars helped them stay full, gave them a nutritious meal, and was a lot cheaper than eating fast food while on the job.

After a few weeks of dieting, once you get your diet on the right track and still having trouble with your appetite, a product like the 1st Phorm Royal King or Queen System can help obliterate fat!
