Arecoline may cause cancer, why is it in Kai Greene’s “Savage Roar” and DLB’s “EWP” preworkouts?

Arecoline may cause premature births, cancer, and thyroid issues. Why is it in Dana Linn Bailey’s and Kai Greene’s preworkout?


I am a huge Kai Greene and Dana Linn Bailey fan, but I do not recommend Kai’s Pre-Workout “Savage Roar” or DLB’s “EWP” to anyone. A review of the ingredients show that Arecoline is an active ingredient. I originally learned about this substance from Evan Centopani (Bodybuilder) on the Muscular Development Forums.

In summary: can cause hypothyroidism, cancer, premature births, and other horrible side effects. (Graphic Photo below of mouth cancer caused by active ingredient)

Arecoline is probably “safe” in small dosages and for short periods of time (take this preworkout for a few months, then switch to another one), but who would chance it? It isn’t going to make you bigger, more ripped, or better. Although I feel that Kai and Dana have almost nothing to do with their products (shocker), I think this is a horrible business move by the company that creates their products. Why put something in your products that will probably be struck down by FDA regulation? You will lose money by pulling it off the shelves. Of course I could be wrong, every kid in America but be buying this because of the face on the product. Money > Health of Customers.

Why You Don’t Get Ripped Jogging

You spend 30-60 minutes, 5 days a week in your local gym on a treadmill, elliptical, or stair stepper, but you still don’t see the results you want. You lost some weight at first, but now you have loose skin, fat rolls, and not the results that you were expecting…


When you start jogging, your body will start seeing results the first few weeks, but then your body will stop seeing results. This is because of a few different factors. The first is that your body likes change.  Eventually your body will find that jogging for 45 minutes on a treadmill isn’t that hard. Without a variety, your body will simply get used to moderate cardio and stop burning additional fat. The second and more important issue with jogging is that prolonged periods of cardio can cause muscle wasting and increased body fat! What should I do to lose fat and get ripped?

The first thing that you are doing wrong is that you probably aren’t lifting weights. There is a notion among men and women that lifting weights will make you bulky. This is only true if you eat an excessive amount of food and/or steroids on top of your weight training. If you run a calorie deficient diet, and lift weights, you will burn fat and gain lean muscle. Lean muscle is your foundation for a sexy toned body. Your skeleton is not sexy!

What type of workout should I do?

I would suggest weight training focusing on specific body parts each day. Here is the training split I’d suggest:

Day 1: Arms

Day 2: Legs

Day 3: Chest and Shoulders

Day 4: Back

How should I work in cardio?

After 2 or 3 workouts each week, I’d add in 15-20 minutes worth of high intensity interval training. My favorite workout is sprinting for 60 seconds, jogging for 5 minutes, and repeat 3-4 times. This will trick your body into burning more fat and retaining muscle.

For someone looking to burn fat and retain/add lean muscle mass, I suggest:

  1. Protein– This is a must have. You can either get this from your diet (food), or as a supplement. I’d suggest eating at least 1 gram of protein per pound of body weight that you would like to weigh.   • No more than 20 minutes of continuous cardio a day
  • No more than 5 days a week
  • Push yourself, don’t hurt yourself


  • 6 packs are made in the kitchen
  • Count your calories
  • Reflect weekly on your nutrition
  • Weigh yourself only once a week at the same exact time
  • High Protein diets are the best.


  • High intensity 40 minute workouts 3-5 times a week
  • Don’t rest long, burn fat while lifting weights.
  • Women and men of all levels should lift weights


  • Set Weight Loss and Strength Goals! I suggest people shooting for 1-2 pounds of fat loss a week. Don’t expect to get skinny overnight, or bench 300 pounds in a month!
  • Sit ups don’t make you skinny! You may not believe me, but there is no science that shows concentrating on a certain area will burn fat from that particular area. Cardio and working out will burn fat throughout the body, and will give you those abs you want before any sit up would!
